Community Health Agenda
Community Health Agenda
After the viewing of "The Weight of the Nation" at the Liberty Theatre in downtown Camas last July, participants in "Camas and Washoughal On A Diet" held a discussion to develop a plan for our own Community Health. Here is the result of that discussion.
THE PLAN
- Develop online videos and tools for participants. Examples include: links to community blogs and resources, short video tips on making small changes such as “how to get better sleep”, “easy adjustments to make to drink water in your day”, “how to get a quick healthy breakfast”, and many more.
- Provide more educational events, such as a movie in Crown Park.
- Develop community support groups.
- Create a “Wellness” point-person in each neighborhood association to facilitate consistent walk times and meeting points to enable more connection with community members. Camas and Washougal On a Diet will provide support to the Wellness efforts.
- Launch a “Know Your Numbers” campaign. Provide access to test members so they know their BMI, whether they are at risk for diabetes and take their blood pressure.
- Promote a “Take Your Parent for a Walk” program to encourage action from the youth.
